Happy spring! As I write this the trees and flowers are blooming and our cars are yellow! We may be in a drought but at my house the pollen has not noticed! In January I thought the club may be in a drought-but we are blooming also!
The year is beginning well; Solo has started off with several events under their belt. Unfortunately one was cut short by tornados and another by rain but I am not going to complain! We need every drop of it we can get. They have a great year planned and I am sure will be successful.
The racing program is under way with our first race being a bit of a challenge I would like to thank everyone for pulling together at the last minute to make this event a success. I was not able to be at the track for the weekend because I was sick and I want to especially thank my husband Larry and my Assistant RE Butch Kummer for the job they did in handling everything – you know I would never do this without either of you!
We held our first meeting of the year on Presidents Day at Winfield Hall in Duluth, we had a modest turn out and I would like to thank Phil Creighton, our Area 12 Director for attending and agreeing to a question and answer session it was very informative. The board has had a change since the last report that I need to make you aware of. Sandy Pence has resigned as Secretary to join her daughter in a business venture and the board and I wish her the best, she certainly will be missed. Sandy will still be at the track in her Paddock position so make sure to wish her well and thank her for her continued contribution to the club. Tom Sprecher has graciously accepted the position as secretary. He assumed his position at the board meeting this week and I truly believe he is going to be an asset to the club. When you see Tom please make sure and thank him for this responsibility he has taken on.
The other major change I hope you have seen by the time you read this is we have a new website at www.atlantascca.org. Many hours have been spent developing this new site and I hope you will take the time to surf it and bookmark it as a place to visit for up to date Atlanta Region SCCA news. My goal is to post regularly to the new website so that you will know what is going on and not have to wait for a quarterly report.
