There is almost too much to put in this report so I’ll leave some of it a Mystery to be announced at the Annual Christmas Awards Banquet!
We had our Annual Nominations Meeting on Thursday September 25, 2008 at "The Loop" on Chamblee-Tucker Road. Nominations were open for approximately 1 hour and at the end of the hour Nominations were closed. The RE position, Officers and Board for 2009 were decided upon based on the received Nominations. An election will not be necessary as there was only one nomination for each of the open positions.
I will share with you that once again I am your Regional Executive, Butch Kummer is still my Assistant RE (Thank him because without him I would never attempt to do this) and we have a new Secretary, Jo Gauzens and Treasurer Tom Sprecher. I appreciate each of them and their willingness to serve with me to continue to guide the Region in a positive direction. Speaking of positive directions - we have new board members for 2009 and I am going to keep that part a Mystery to be announced at the Awards Banquet.
I also want to announce that we recieved your nominations for the following awards - and you can hear at the Awards Banquet which of your fellow members won.
The awards are:
- Outstanding Member of the Year
- Race Worker of the Year
- National Driver of the Year
- Regional Driver of the Year
- Atlanta Region Driver of the Year
- Rookie Driver of the Year
PLEASE plan to be at the Christmas Party/Awards Dinner. I had the wonderful opportunity to save the Region a substantial amount of money this year by moving the party to the "Loudermilk Center" in downtown Atlanta. As a result, I made the executive decision to reduce the price of the Party to $10.00 per person. The facility is very nice and has well lit FREE covered parking as well as a sheltered walkway to the building.
We will be having a pre-dinner reception with light appetizers, beer, wine and soft drinks from 6:30-7:30; and a full Buffet Dinner at 7:30. The dinner menu includes:
- Fresh Mixed Greens Salad
- Roast beef w/Mushroom Cream Sauce
- Herb Roasted Baked Chicken
- Garlic Mashed Potatoes
- Fresh Vegetable Medley
- Bread
- Dessert
- Tea/Water/Coffee
- Beer/Wine
There is no where in town you can get this kind of meal for $10.00 and get to enjoy an evening with fellow sports car enthusiasts. Please get your reservation in early we need an accurate head count by the end of November. We will have lots of door prizes including the famous 'Wal-Mart" cards that will save you on gasoline!
I have so much more I feel like I need to report on - come to the Party on December 6th and I will get you caught up on all of the end of the year news! I hope to see many of you at the ARRC and many more of you at the Christmas Party.
