RE's Report December 2008

Tere Pulliam

It’s truly hard to believe another year has gone and 2009 is rapidly approaching, what happened to Y2K?? 2008 was a difficult year for many people in our club as well as across the country, my prayers go out to you and your families that 2009 will be a better year and we will all look to the future with positive thoughts and actions.

I don’t have the final numbers at this time as to where the club stands financially.

I can tell you this is probably one of those years that we will look back on and be glad that the past leaders of the club had the vision to realize we needed a nest egg for a rainy day. Across the board our entries in all areas were down approximately 10-15% I believe we’ll see this coming year level out to this years numbers. I feel confident by 2010 we will see our numbers climb back to the level we had in 2007.

In 2008 we were able to launch our new website with the hard work and input of several members. I want to thank Steve Davis, Paul Gauzens, Terry Miller and Don Atwell (please forgive me if I left you out) for all the hours spent doing the conversion and making the site nice and user friendly. I appreciate all the hard work all of you put into it.

To those who attended the Christmas Party & Awards Banquet, you’ll have to tell everyone what a great time they missed! Our new venue, The Loudermilk Center, was just wonderful. I certainly haven’t had any complaints! The pre-dinner reception was very nice and the dinner was fabulous. I have already spoken with them and we’ll be returning next December, so put it on your calendar now. The tentative date is Saturday December 5th, 2009. I want to give a special thank you to Karyn and Bob Hudson and Donna and Tom Sprecher for all their help in the planning of the party, as well as all they did the night of the party.

I’d also like to thank Heyward Wagner and Team Solo for honoring our family at the Christmas Party with the presentation of "The Pulliam Cup" award, formerly known as the "Champion of Champions Award". It was a complete surprise and for us to be recognized with this is truly an honor. Thank you from all the members of the Pulliam Family.

In 2009, we’ll have 2 new board members, Jim Murphy and Trey Forest, who have a wealth of club experience and knowledge in Solo and Racing. Please join me in welcoming both of them to the Board. As always, please feel free to contact me if you need anything, I am always available to the members of our club members.

As we begin this New Year, I wish the best for you and your family. May it be a safe and prosperous year for all.
